Brandon's Bloviate Babbles
Rotnei Clarke is a man.

Rotnei Clarke dropped 51 points tonight against Alcorn State. He has been named NCAA best shooter this season by Fox sports before this even took place and showed this is the case when he went off for an SEC record 13 3-point shots made. Rotnei made .935 of his free throws last year, but only made a sloppy 8 of 9 of his free throws tonight. But before I get side tracked by his playing ability or facts such as having the all time record in points in the state of Oklahoma high school, I want to talk about something much bigger.

Rotnei Clarke is on a team that had 4 players (including 3 starters) that are suspended for detrimental conduct. When I think of “bad environments” I think of Arkansas basketball. Rotnei, however, remains to be a solid believer in Christ. Whether it be his Facebook status or seeing him around campus you can always tell that there’s something different around him. Example number one, his current Facebook status is “Getting mentally prepared…meditating, and believing that HE will shine through me in this opportunity!..” I won’t go into his info page because I am sure you can see where that would go. All I am trying to say is that this guy deserves more credit. To be in a situation he’s in on this team surrounded by the things he is, to be able to keep his witness and keep a light on the team is pretty awesome. To try to appreciate what he is up to I thought maybe posting this for the two or fewer people who might read it to give him some props.

So, to conclude my first real blog about something of importance, I will end pretty simply by saying, Rotnei Clarke is a man.

My first blog?

I created a blog today, in case you haven’t noticed by reading this. I don’t really have an idea of what to talk about quite yet so I’m just going to let this be an introductory to my blogging experience. This is either going to be awesome and I will update this often, or it will not be what I had hoped and I will stop rather quickly. Either way I am going to experiment with this Eric Del Medico journaling/blogging idea here and see where it takes me. Anyway… Hopefully I’ll think of something interesting soon so that you can be entertained by my thoughts.
